In recent years, we have proposed a number of novel algorithms, techniques, and solutions in preprocessing, face detection, face recognition and verification. In the FVC2006 (Face Verification Contest 2006) and BVC2004 (First Biometrics Competition in China) face competition, our system outperforms other systems. In addition, we have been awarded China Science and Technology Progress Award (Second Prize) in 2005. Academic Awards (1) First Position in FVC2006 We are awarded the First Position in the IAPR ICB 2006 Face Verification Contest. As a contest accompanying the International Conference on Biometrics 2006 (ICB2006), the FVC2006 is organized by Prof.Kittler from University of Surrey. For more information about the contest, the results, and our methods, please click here. The following figure is the certification.
(2) First Position in BVC2004 In 2004, the Center for Biometrics and Security Research organized the First Biometric Verification Competition (BVC2004) in China. Totally six first-class face recognition research groups had involved in the competition. Our system extremely outperforms other systems, as illustrated in the following table, in which "FA_029" stands for our system. Average EER of our (full-automatic) system is 7.71%, much lower than that of the rank-2 system (23.38%).
(3) China Science and Technology Progress Award (2005) We have been awarded by the China Science and Technology Progress Award (second prize) in 2005, which is one of the three highest S&T awards in China. (4) Science and Technology Progress Award of Shanghai (2003) Our face recognition technology has obtained the Science and Technology Progress Award of Shang Hai (First Prize) in 2003. 1. Great Hall of the People for Chinese Congress in 2002; 2. China Construction Bank in some province in the south of China in 2004. 3. Some police station in 2005 From 2004, we have publicly released a large-scale Chinese Face Database, CAS-PEAL-R1 to any researchers in face recognition area for research purpose only. The CAS-PEAL-R1 face database contains more than 30, 000 face images of 1040 persons, covering variety of variations in imaging conditions including Pose, Expression, Accessory, and Lighting. Please refer to the CAS-PEAL website for more details. |
