Biography
I receive my
bachelor's degree, M.Phil. degree, and Ph.D. degree in Computer
Science from Hebei University of Technology in 1998, Tianjin
University in 2001, and Hong Kong University of Science and
Technology (HKUST) in 2006. I was research scientist at Xerox
Research Centre Europe. Now, I am
an Associate Research at the Institute of Computing Technology,
Chinese Academy of Sciences. I also am a staff member in the
Joint Research &
Development Lab (JDL).
Research Interests
- Algorithms
and models for machine learning and pattern recognition,
particularly semi-supervised learning, metric learning and
nonlinear dimensionality reduction.

Applications of machine learning methods, including image
processing, computer vision, data mining and biometrics.
I am
recruiting
one direct
admission student for entrance in 2012. I expect my candidate
student to have the following qualities : strong background in
computer science and mathematics, competency in English
technical reading and writing and lasting passion for doing
high-quality research.
